OBITUARY: Lilly M. Harvel
Lilly M. Harvel, 83, passed away 1:44 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Marion Rehab and Nursing Center in Marion.
Lilly was a homemaker and former seamstress for Smoler Brothers Garment Factory in Herrin.
Lilly was born July 15, 1931, in Ferges to Clyde and Mamie (Phelps) Donahue.
Lilly was united in marriage with Leslie H. Harvel on August 30, 1948, in Herrin. Together they shared 67 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 15, 2013.
Surviving are, son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pat Harvel of Harrisburg; daughter-in-law, Cathy Thomas of Delaware, Okla.; four grandchildren, Misty (Randy) Lattuada of Herrin, Amy (Kirk) O'Hagan of Savannah, Ga., Brent (Christina) Harvel of Midlothian, Va., and Chad (Cathy) Harvel of Midlothian, Va.; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Hickey of Florissant, Mo., Irene Sherrard of Herrin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Alice Donahue of Marion, Harry and Karen Donahue of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Dennis Lee Harvel; parents; three brothers, Bob Burt, George Robinson, Clyde "Bud" Donahue; and a sister, Mabel Lezu.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, Ill. 62959; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
