Elverado 3-on-3 basketball tourney to fund scholarships in memory of Darren Coffel and Leroy Light

The Elverado Booster Club and the Elverado High School are having a 3-on-3 memorial basketball tournament in memory of Darren Coffel and Leroy Light.

" They were both big influences in our school district for many kids and were both taken too early from us. Darren was a baseball coach and graduate from Elverado and Leroy was a 33-year employee as a high school janitor," said Booster Club spokesman Robert Cavitt. "We are having the first annual Darren Coffel and Leroy Light 3-on-3 tournament on Saturday March 28, 2015 at the Piper-Valerius gym at the Elverado High School in Elkville. We are asking individuals and businesses in our area to be a sponsor for the fundraiser and all profits will go to scholarships in Darren's and Leroy's name," he said.

Fenton's Custom Collision is the major corporate sponsor.

"We are asking $100 or more and your name will be on all t-shirts and announced at the event. These two individuals were a big loss in our community and we want to honor them with helping other kids with their future by giving these scholarships," he said.

There will be two division 17 and under and 18 and over: All games will be played at Elverado's Piper Valerius Gym on the Elkville High School Campus.

Tournament T-shirts will be sold first come first serve in L and XL only. All registrations and tournament fee of $80 received by March 20, 2015 will receive a free t-shirt.

Concession will be provided and sold by TRockers of Elkville.

All donations can be mailed to the high school or to the address below (make checks to Attention: Elverado Booster Club c/o 3-on-3 bball) or boosters would happy to pick up your donation. All donations must be turned in by Friday March 20, 2015 in order to be on the t-shirts.
