OBITUARY: Clarence R. “Flat Rock” Adams

Clarence R. "Flat Rock" Adams, 91 of 209 E. Trammel St., Carrier Mills, died 7:43 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held noon Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. until service time Friday. The Rev. Jerry Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery west of Carrier Mills.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1923, in Saline County to the late Lloyd and Eckles (Yezek) Adams. He married the former Shirley D. Wiseman on May 1, 1943, and she preceded in death on Sept. 19, 2012. He was a retired coal miner working for over 43 years at Sahara Coal Company. He was a member and Deacon of the Stonefort Antioch Church. He also attended and was a former Deacon at Providence Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Carrier Mills.

He is survived by a daughter: Debbie (Jim) Carrigan of Carrier Mills; son: David (Kathy) Adams of Sparta; daughter-in-law: Dee Adams of Harrisburg; six grandchildren: Tina Adams, Julie Adams, Billy (Thea) Adams, Natalie Futrell, Brittany (Daniel) Wix and Misty (Jeremy) Fulkerson; 11 great-grandchildren: Keysha (Chad) Bates, Jayden Ditterline, Luke Wix, Evelyn Marie Futrell, Lexee Fulkerson, Hayden Fulkerson, Ryli Fulkerson, Phoebe Adams, Abby Adams, Samuel Adams and Olivia Adams; six great-great-grandchildren: Lydea Bates, Audrey Bates, Sydney Bates, Brielle Ditterline, Mackenzie Sisson and Trace Sission.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Adams; son: Lloyd Adams; and daughter: Becky Adams.
