Passenger in Posey Co. crash in good condition
The condition of Shashin Natvarlal Patel of Owensboro, Ky., has been upgraded to good, a Deaconess Hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Patel was a passenger in the car involved in a head on crash with a semi tractor-trailer in Posey County, Indiana, Feb. 11. The driver, Ronnie Ferguson, 45, Ridgway, was killed in the crash. Patel's condition had been critical but stable last week.
Patel is general manager of Ridgway Quik Mart. Employees at Quik Mart Saturday said Patel has several broken bones including broken ribs and a laceration above his eye and expectations are for his recovery.
Ferguson was driving west on state Route 62 between Sand Road and Raben Road west of Mount Vernon when his vehicle crossed the center line and side swiped an eastbound semi tractor-trailer, according to a release from the Posey County Sheriff's Office. The car continued west, crossed the center line again and crashed into a semi tractor-trailer head on.
