Marching Panther Pompon Squad earns second and third place prizes at State

The Pinckneyville Community High School Marching Panther Pompon Girls competed in the I.D.T.A. State Contest on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. The 16 member squad won second place in Class A Jazz and third place in Class A Kick in the contest. The squad's Jazz routine was one tenth of a point from the State Champion Score out of 300 possible points. Fourteen schools competed in Class A Jazz during the IDTA Contest season. In addition, Haley Johnston competed with the top 30 soloists at the event. Johnston performed in the early morning of the competition and had a great performance even though she did not advance to the finals (top 10). This year's dance season will conclude with a performance at Senior Night on Friday, Feb. 20. The team is coached by Rhonda Hicks, Stephen Cannedy and Tawmi Conley.
