OBITUARY: Phyllis Baumgart

Phyllis Baumgart, 75 of Mt. Carmel, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind., surrounded by her family.

Phyllis was born Saturday, May 27, 1939, the third child of Edward A. and Ruth Ann (Naas) Drone in Ridgway. She graduated from Ridgway High School. On Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1957, Phyllis married Robert Baumgart in Ridgway at the St. Joseph Church.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was active in the church activities, Beta Sigma Phi, Chapter FK PEO and Study Club. Phyllis was full of energy. She enjoyed aqua aerobics at the WVC pool, flower gardening, traveling, delivering meals for Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Hope Pregnancy Center. Phyllis loved her large family and was very dedicated to them, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Bob, of 57 years; children, Mike and wife Sheila Baumgart, Chris and wife Cindy Baumgart, Teresa and husband Brian Urfer and Cheri and husband Miller Newton; seven grandchildren, Luke and wife Jordan Baumgart, Ashley Baumgart, Tricia Baumgart, Mariah Baumgart, Jennifer Baumgart, Quincy Newton and Nia Newton; great-grandchild, Ezekiel Baumgart; brothers, Bernie and wife Carla Drone, Fred and wife Beth Drone, Tim and wife Bo Drone, Ron and wife Karen Drone, Pat and wife Kay Drone, Tony Drone; sisters, Dorothy Fullop and Barb Acord.

Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents; sister, Regina Schimp; and a brother, Alfred Drone.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 5th and Chestnut Streets, Mt. Carmel, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery on West Poplar Street.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel.
