Prep Bowling: Harrisburg girls advance to O'Fallon Sectional

The Harrisburg High School girls' bowling team advanced to this weekend's IHSA Sectional at O'Fallon with a third place showing at the Herrin Regional.

Herrin took the top spot with a team total of 5663, while Salem scored a second place finish with a 5484. Harrisburg finished with a 5362 and Waterloo grabbed the final team spot with a 5326.

"I would say we played an average tournament (over the weekend." Harrisburg head coach Doug Cottom said. "We have so much more upside potential with this bunch. If we can somehow get all five clicking next Saturday at the O'Fallon Sectional, than we have a very good shot at making a trip to the state finals. Hopefully, our best is yet to come and it happens at the sectional. It would be a nice reward for these girls to get to the state tournament."
