OBITUARY: Delores Janett "Dodie" Johnson

Delores Janett "Dodie" Johnson, 81 of Harrisburg, passed away 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

She was born in Independence Township south of Harrisburg Aug. 25, 1933, to Aaron Crid and Mabel Duncan Jackson. She was married to Richard (Dick) Redfearn on July 26, 1952, and he preceded her in death June 28, 1989. She married Joe Johnson Dec. 5, 1992, and he preceded her in death May 1, 1997. Dodie, as she was known by, worked in the secretarial department at Ferrell Hospital, later going to work at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis and then returning to Saline County and working for Amax Coal Co. She was a member of the Harrisburg First United Methodist Church and the Daughters Of American Revolution.

She is survived by two sisters, Lena Roper of Harrisburg and Dr. Nora B. Oldham of Ponte Verde, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother Jack Jackson; and four sisters, Celeste Jackson, Mary Tanner, Tottie Fritts and Gertrude Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Harrisburg First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christine Cunningham officiating and burial to follow in Lindale Cemetery near Eldorado. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home. For those who wish memorials in Dodie's memory should be made to the First United Methodist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
