OBITUARY: Vertia M. Sutton
Vertia M. Sutton, 85 of Eldorado, died Jan. 26, 2015, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born in Omaha on Dec. 4, 1929, to the late Roy Lee and Amy (Rister) Hedger.
Vertia was a member of the Eldorado First United Methodist Church for 65 years. She worked for many years at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado and with Dr. Denton Ferrell. She traveled the world with her husband Norman and also enjoyed dancing. Vertia loved spending time at Lake of Egypt. And she had a true talent for taking care of people.
On Sept. 4, 1949, she married Norman W. Sutton and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2014. Vertia is survived by her children: Kevin (Denise) Sutton of Jackson, Mo., and Susan (Bill) Parker of Wilmington N.C. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Silas Lee Hedger.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at the First United Methodist church in Eldorado with the Rev. John Cross and Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado.
