OBITUARY: Janet "Ann" (Rutledge) Heck
Janet "Ann" (Rutledge) Heck of Lexington, Ky., passed away peacefully Jan. 19, 2015, at Cambridge Place in Lexington.
Born Aug.14, 1945, to Vollie and Ethel (Edwards) Rutledge in Eldorado, Ann graduated from Eldorado High School in 1963 and earned a degree at Southern Illinois University. She married classmate LeRoy "Lee" Heck in May 1967, and they welcomed a son, Jason, in 1973.
The Heck family moved to Lexington in 1982 and joined Centenary United Methodist Church soon after. Family and faith were at the center of Ann's life. At Centenary, she was involved in church groups, prayer circles and volunteer missions. At home, she doted on Lee and Jason and on the many dogs they raised through the years. She also took great pleasure in adding a daughter to the family when Jason married Elizabeth Bagby in 2004.
Ann's kindness and the joy she took in life's small pleasures live on after her in the hearts of those who survive her: Lee, her husband of 47 years; Jason and Elizabeth; and Ann's brother-in-law Thomas Heck and sister-in-law Brenda Heck.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Milward - Southland, Lexington, Ky., with a visitation beginning at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Stroke Association at http://honor.americanheart.org/goto/annheck. www.milwardfuneral.com
