OBITUARY: Louise Long Wiman

Louise Long Wiman, 95, longtime resident of Paducah, Ky., was received by her heavenly Father on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1919, to Jim and Cora Long in Chattanooga, Tenn., where she was an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. She attended the University of Chattanooga and worked as a bookkeeper for Hamilton National Bank and United Hosiery Mill.

On Nov. 17, 1957, Louise married the Rev. Wayne Wiman and became at once both a preacher's wife and mom to Wayne's teenage son David and six-year old daughter Vicki. She set an example as a loving, devoted wife, mother, and servant to the congregations. She was well known as an extraordinary cook and her craft projects lent the Rev. Wiman's children's sermons unforgettable flair. Together, Wayne and Louise Wiman served at churches in Chattanooga, Tenn., Fayetteville, Tenn., Paducah, Ky., and Sturgis, Ky. They "retired" in Paducah.

Louise was a member of Andrew Jackson Eastern Star No. 370 in Fayetteville, Tenn. She was honored as a Kentucky Colonel and Duchess of Paducah. She was the oldest member of Margaret Hank Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Paducah, Ky. She lived at Jackson Oaks Retirement Community for 9.5 years and Fountain View Nursing home in Eldorado for the past year.

Family survivors include her stepchildren, David (Toni) of Harrisburg and Vicki of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandson, Bobby (Lisa) of Eldorado; great-grandsons, Jacob (Darcie) of Benton and Jared (Shauna) with their three great-great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kylie and Aydon all of Harrisburg; several stepgrandchildren and their families; nieces, Gail Stewart (Tom) of Dothan, Ala., the Rev. Mary Parson of Calhoun, Tenn.; nephews, Bob of Mattoon, Warren (Loretta) of Newton and Ferrell (Mary Lynn) of Mt. Vernon; and beloved friends, Frances and Eddie Rudolph.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Cora Long; her sister, Naomi; and brother, Alton. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, the Rev. Wayne Wiman.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, 120 Memorial Drive Paducah, Ky., with the Rev. Mary Parson, the Rev. Chris Fleming and the Rev. Mariann Lankton officiating. Private burial at Maplelawn Park Cemetery will follow.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
