OBITUARY: Maxine Laverne Simpson Roberts

Maxine Laverne Simpson Roberts departed this life on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, while resident of the Palm Garden Nursing Home, Largo, Fla.

She was born on June 30, 1926, in Harrisburg to Lola Clark Simpson and Fred Simpson. Her brother, Paul Simpson died Dec. 5, 1996, in Cobden. She is survived by her sister, Beatrice Simpson Harris of Carrier Mills. Maxine was married to James Haley Roberts, of Eldorado, for 60 years. He passed in 2002 in Largo, Fla.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen Earl Roberts and his wife Gail Gross Roberts, their children Kevin Brady Roberts and Haley Jean Roberts, all residents of Tallahassee, Fla., son James Laverne Roberts of Newburgh, Ind., and his partner Janet Mallon Bockelman, his children, David McClintick Roberts and his wife Louise Maerki Roberts and their son, Henry James Roberts, Stephanie Roberts Foley, her husband, Brian J. Foley, and their daughters, Madeline Rose Foley and Katherine Hazel Foley, all residents of Brookfield, Wis., grandson, Grant Robert Soyka and his wife Emmy Koons Soyka are residents of Longmont, Colo. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom are residents of Southern Illinois. A memorial service and burial are planned in Cottage Grove Cemetery, Harrisburg, where she will be interred next to her mother, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciation donations to The Salvation Army.
