WRESTLING: Panthers pick up a win over Carmi
The Pinckneyville wrestling team picked up its second meet win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating visiting Carmi-White County 42-24 behind pinfall victories from five Panthers.
Tyler Eggemeyer pinned Trey William at the 1:42 mark of the first period in the 138-pound class to get the Panthers started in the win column. PCHS's Austin Kreger (152-lb.) pinned Wyatt Weinbrecht in 2:26, Grant Murphy (160-lb) pinned Shawn Reigner in 1:20, Gabe Strohlein got the pin on RIley Painter (3:11), and Richard Jones (182-lb.) pinned Jacob Ferguson to the mat in 3:56.
Pinckneyville also picked up forfeit wins in the 145-lb. (Faleshia Quillman) and 195-lb. (Ryan Ruty) weight classes.
The Panthers wrestle again on Saturday at the Mt. Olive Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m. Their next home match will be January 13 against Benton and Murphysboro.
