Damage, wire theft, reported

Saline County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the theft of copper wiring and criminal damage to the American Coal North Portal at 1640 Hamburg Road, Galatia, the night of Dec. 29.

Security Officer Bill Winters showed deputies two locations where the chain link fence had been cut with tire marks in between as though a cart had been dragged through, according to a Saline County Sheriff's report.

In an outbuilding an electrical transformer had been taken apart with copper wire removed, according to the report.
