Woman hurt in Route 45 crash
A Harrisburg woman was hurt in a crash about 8:30 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 45 just north of Eldorado.
Brenda Ward, 48, was driving south on the Highway on a curve 1 mile north of Eldorado when she drove off the west side of the road and overturned in an embankment, according to Saline County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Sloan.
Eldorado firefighters responded for extrication. Chief Mike McKinnies said firefighters removed the windshield and cut the car open to remove Ward.
Ward received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital by ambulance. She has not been cited.
McKinnies said that location was the site of a fatal accident last year and two or three semi-tractor trailers also have overturned there. He said there is no road shoulder and vehicles that have their wheels pass onto the grass can easily go out of control. He hopes the work to expand the highway into a four lane road will make the curve safer.
