EHT: Day 3 recaps from Holiday Tournament
Meridian 74, Anna-Jonesboro 73
The Anna-Jonesboro tandem of Noah Fuller and Zach Parr each had chances under the basket to win the game for the Wildcats, but neither could muster the same magic in the earlier win over Massac County as Meridian won the Fifth Place title with a 74-73 come-from-behind win.
The Wildcats led after the end of each quarter, taking a 28-21 lead after one quarter and pushing it to 45-32 at halftime.
Anna-Jonesboro appeared to be in the drivers seat heading into the game's final eight minutes, leading 60-48, but the Bobcats began to find their stroke and cranked up the defensive pressure.
Meridian tied the game at 68-all and again at 70. Tyrone Nesby gave the Bobcats their first lead of the game with a bucket with just under a minute to play.
After A-J made it a one-point ballgame on a bucket by Dakota Earnhart with under 10 seconds to play, the Wildcats stole the inbound pass and had two opportunities with Parr and Fuller, but neither could connect.
