OBITUARY: Shirley Jo McKinstry

Shirley Jo McKinstry, 64 of Chatham, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at St. John's Hospice.

She was born on June 18, 1950, in Harrisburg, to Quentin and Louise Wesley Swan. She was preceded in death by her father. Shirley married Wayne McKinstry on Dec. 28, 1974. She earned degrees from Southeastern Illinois College and Southern Illinois University and was employed as a math teacher most of her life. She also worked as a tutor, computer trainer, piano teacher, and contributor to the Website, ministry-to-children.com. She was a member of Western Oaks Baptist Church, and worked at various times as a Sunday School director, GA leader, WMU Director, children's teacher, and children's director as well as participated in committee work.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband, Wayne; daughter, Amy (Keith) Tyndall of Brookline, Mo.; son, David (Lindsay) McKinstry of Front Royal, Va.; grandchildren, Lydia Tyndall, Luke Tyndall, Caleb McKinstry, Hadley McKinstry and Reid McKinstry; mother, Louise Swan of Harrisburg.

Her family greeted friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, Ill. 62629. Her funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec.15, 2014, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham, with Pastor Delbert Halleman officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
