OBITUARY: Martha Robert Donley

Martha Roberta Donley, 82 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

Roberta was born on Monday, Aug. 15, 1932, in West Frankfort, to the late Earl and Norma (Tate) Garner. She married Arthur Donley on Monday, Aug. 28, 1950. Roberta was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was so precious and greatly loved by her family and by all the children at her church. Roberta was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and worked with the youth. She made dough for Mackie's Pizza for 20 years.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Arthur Donley of Harrisburg; son, Ted Donley of Harrisburg; daughter, Cathy Burtis and husband Joe of Equality; daughter, Debra King of Eldorado; daughter, Pam Shoemaker and husband, Steve of Vienna; daughter, Kimberly Hunt and husband Ben, of Altenburg, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Jeana Winters and husband Mike, Teddy David Donley, Joseph Burtis and wife Kelly, Edward Burtis, Sara Lands and husband Nick, Ben Donley, Caleb King, Stephanie Tanner and husband John, Adam Shoemaker and wife Kimberly, Heather Shoemaker, Amanda Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell and Klayton Hunt; 17 great -grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Felty of Carrier Mills.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Norma Garner; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Brian King.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Bob Jones officiated; burial followed in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to service time Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
