OBITUARY: Jack Oshel

Jack Oshel passed into the arms of his Lord on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014.

The only child of Mary and Ernest Oshel of Stonefort, he endeared himself to his cousin, Reba, also an only child, thus they became like sister and brother for life. Jack proudly served in the USAF during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; cousins Frank Blackman, Bob Bryan of Illinois, Reba Martin, Helen Tarrant of Florida, Robert McSparin of South Carolina and Glenda Montgomery of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and several cousins. He was very attached to his roots, his family and friends, and enjoyed visits after retirement.

Jack received his engineering degree from San Diego State University, worked in aerospace and other areas across the country to gain more experience so that he was with his last company, Solar Turbines Inc., in San Diego at age 30, retiring from upper management at age 55. He never looked back, pursuing his love of golf which always came first in his life, making large contributions to Junior Golf. He and Marje traveled on golf vacations in the U.S. and several times overseas, playing in Scotland and Ireland. They loved to travel and after retirement bought an RV to take them to nearly every state plus British Columbia, enjoying the tourist attractions, playing golf, finally moving to Green Valley, Ariz., for the winters, staying in cooler places during the summers. Their last trip was by car back to his high school reunion at his old stomping grounds, visiting many friends and relatives in Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas before returning home, a successful trip with no problems. He'll be remembered for his long stories, his sense of humor, and let's hope there is golf in Heaven. Memorials requested to your local hospice or charity of your choice.

Military burial will be private at Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
