OBITUARY: Catherine Ann "Cathy" Hopper

Catherine Ann "Cathy" Hopper, 66 of Equality, passed away 8:52 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, in Land O' Lakes, Fla.

She was born in Shawneetown on June 2, 1948, the daughter of Charles Allen and Mary C. (Haney) Porter. Cathy married Bobby Wayne Hopper on Feb. 6, 1971, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2010. She worked at the Equality Han-dee Mart for several years and 32 years as the Equality Township Clerk. Cathy was a member of the Equality Social Brethren Church and Equality McLain - Glover American Legion Post No. 595 Ladies Auxiliary.

Cathy is survived by two sons, Gregory Hopper of Land O' Lakes, Fla., Ashley Hopper of Equality; five sisters, Ruby Oxford of Rolling Meadows, Winifred Joyce Lewis of Chillicothe, Mary C. "Connie" Brazier of Marion, Bonnie and husband Bernard Thomas of Uniontown, Ky., Linda Reed of Creal Springs; one brother, Gene and wife Maryetta Porter of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Chelsey Hopper, Devin and Anthony "Tony" Clavijo-Hopper; one great grandchild, Kasen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Mildred Black and Evadeen Haney; three brothers, Joseph David, Noel Allen and Charles Edgar Porter.

Visitation for Cathy will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, until service time at noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Jones with burial at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
