OBITUARY: Alphonso Taylor
Alphonso Taylor, 69 of 330 E. Raymond St., Harrisburg, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Monday until service time. The Rev. Walter Banks and the Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate. Military rites will be performed at the funeral home by Carrier Mills American Legion, Harrisburg American Legion and the Army National Guard Ritual Team.
He was born on June 22, 1945, in Saint Louis, Mo., to the late Paul and Magnolia (Steward) Taylor. He married Mary Williams on July 3, 2013, and she survives.
He worked at many things during his lifetime including landscaping and construction work. He was a Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Taylor of Harrisburg; six children: Alvina Beamon and Alfreda Yarborough, both of Chicago, Kim Phillips, Pauline Taylor, Tamara Phillips and Alphonso Phillips, all of Anniston, Ala.; three stepchildren: Marilyn Gardner, Brian Williams and Babbs Phillips; three brothers-in-law: Willis (Vickie) Williams of Harrisburg, Gerald (Christine) Williams of Chicago and John (Marilyn) Williams of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law: Erma Montgomery of Chicago; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
