OBITUARY: John Franklin Wooten

John Franklin Wooten, 73 of Bloomington, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at his residence.

There will be a visitation from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the service starting at 5 p.m. at the memorial home. Pastor Jeff Mayfield will officiate. Graveside services will be at Blooming Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in McLeansboro 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the LeRoy Christian Church, or OSF. Hospice in Bloomington.

John was born on March 27, 1941, the son of Frank Arnold and Mary Opal Allen Wooten. He married Alice Faye Harrelson on Sept. 7, 1962, in McLeansboro; she preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2005.

Surviving are his three children, Kathy (Richard) Stoller, Eureka; Jeffrey Wooten (fiance, Dawn Cheek), Mahomet; Christina Wooten, Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Matthew Stoller, Jordan, Jackson, and Jonathan Wooten, Brittany and Amanda Brewster and Jeremiah Tribbett; one great-granddaughter, Roselynn E. Tesdall. Also surviving is his very dear friend, Betty Moore. John is preceded in death by both of his parents.

John graduated from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg.

He worked for Firestone from March 1966 until his retirement in October of 2000.

John was a member of the Vale Baptist Church from 1964 until 2013. From 2013 until currently John also held a membership at the LeRoy Christian Church, LeRoy.
