Breathing Better: Marshall Browning staff celebrates Respiratory Week

Oct. 19-25 is Respiratory Care Week, a week set aside to recognize respiratory therapists for their hard work and dedication. "The respiratory therapists at Marshall Browning Hospital provide a wide range of respiratory care to patients," says Lisa Smith, Director of Respiratory Therapy at Marshall Browning Hospital. "Our respiratory therapists address the needs of patients from breathing treatments to resuscitation and ventilation of patients."

The respiratory therapists at Marshall Browning Hospital are licensed practitioners with extensive experience in managing acute and chronic respiratory disorders. They offer a wide variety of services including Stress Test, Pulmonary Function Test, EKG's, 24/48/72 Hour Holter Monitor, 30-day Event Monitor, Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, Sleep Studies, 6-Minute Walk Test, Patient Education, and Pulse Oximetry.

Marshall Browning Hospital Respiratory Therapy staff include Lisa D. Smith- Director of Respiratory Therapy, Amy N. Williams- Lead Therapist, Kerensa Lafata, Mindy Swenson, Joni Sisky, Wendy Book, Eric Campbell, Chase Epplin - Respiratory Assistant, Renee D. Scott- Cario - Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator, Leah McCormick - Stress Lab Coordinator, Suzanne Maitre - Sleep Lab Coordinator.

MBH Respiratory Staff are ACLS & PALS Certified. With the medical needs of the community continually evolving, the Respiratory Department is as well. In the past eight years the department has opened a second Sleep Lab (Sleep Studies at MBH are performed by a respiratory therapist that is a Board Certified Registered Polysomnography Technologist - RPSGT), Stress Lab is Prairie Heart Trained and follows Prairie Heart Protocols, and opened a Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
