Frieda K. Emling

Frieda K. Emling, 99, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:32 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Frieda was born Jan. 7, 1915 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Tim and Susie (Woll) Franklin.

She married Julius Emling on June 6, 1934 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1976.

Frieda was a homemaker and had worked on the family farm. She was of the Christian faith and a proud member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She loved to sing in the church choir and loved her church family dearly. Frieda was a loving mother who truly enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frieda is survived by one son - Raymond Emling and wife Shirley, three grandchildren - Ray Allen (Judy) Emling, Carrie Jean (Bob) Osborn and Denise (Rick) Thompson, great grandchildren - Kirstin Osborn, Kelcie (Brandon) Conte, Braelee Osborn, MacKenzie Emling and Kiley Emling, great great grandchildren - Alivia and Aubree Conte, all of Du Quoin, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two siblings - Ardell Franklin and Thelma Galloway.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Dwayne Dollgener officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ or Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
