Harrisburg High School to stage "Charlotte's Web"

Kids! They are indestructible and they think they are immortal.

At least some kids.

Like the cast of Harrisburg High School's production of "Charlotte's Web."

Director Hannah Drake, who is also the band director for the school, said, "This weekend will be a challenge for us all. We have three shows of 'Charlotte's Web' scheduled for Friday at East Side and West Side. Then Saturday morning the band will be performing in Carbondale's Homecoming Parade and the cast of 'Charlotte's Web' comes mostly from the band.

"Then Saturday night we will be presenting the first paid performance of "Charlotte's Web" at Southeastern Illinois College at 7 p.m. On Sunday we will also be performing the show at 7 p.m. at SIC."

The story brings to stage E.B. White's beloved children's novel of Charlotte the spider who seeks to save Wilbur the pig from slaughter by weaving messages praising his virtue.

Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults. The sponsor of the show is the Harrisburg High School Drama Department.
