OBITUARY: Jerry U. Pry

Jerry U. Pry, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:16 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Jerry was born on Saturday, Nov. 27, 1937, in Harrisburg, to the late Francis and Mildred (Upchurch) Pry. Jerry married Betty Watson on Aug. 25, 1964, and she survives in Harrisburg.

Jerry was a United States Army veteran, and was a member of the Coal Belt Fire Protection Association. He was also an avid Harrisburg Bulldogs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He attended church with his wife at Land Street Church of God, and he was a follower of Christ.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty Pry of Harrisburg; daughter, Susan Patterson and husband Steve of Galatia; and grandchildren, Brooke Milburn, Jerret Roper and fiancé Kellie Headrick, and Jayden Roper.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Paul Taylor, the Rev. Clayton Watson and the Rev. Brent Holloway will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday.
