Ridgway Haunted Forest returns
This is the big one - the one that you will talk about until Christmas.
Halloween season is rife with scary fundraisers. Every town seems to have at least one.
But this is the first time this correspondent has been told that a few people have soiled themselves while traveling the circuit of creepy displays.
Maybe it is the freelance spooks, goblins and monsters who prowl Ridgway Park in Ridgway. Maybe it is the stations on the quarter mile loop that is the Haunted Forest.
Whatever, the place gives this correspondent the creeps.
But do not stay away.
It is for a good cause. The not-for-profit Coleman Tri-County Rehab Center is the beneficiary.
The center provides services to the developmentally disabled and the emotionally impaired.
"Lock your doors!" was the advice that Lisa Knight, event coordinator gave Tuesday morning.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 the Haunted Forest opens to the public. At 10:30 p.m. the gate closes. If you are in line at that time you get to make the trip. You may regret that, but only time will tell.
Pizza, hot dogs, Polish sausage, popcorn and cupcakes will be sold at the forest from their refreshment stand.
"Please come to our refreshment stand," said Knight. "There are other stands each year in town. But our profits all go to the center."
"Also," said Knight, "If you want to volunteer for any job call 378-2197."
Saturday the ghouls, goblins, wayward clowns and out-of-work horror movie stars begin their frightening game again same time, same place: Ridgway Park, Ridgway.
