Jeffrey “Todd” Shaffer
Jeffrey "Todd" Shaffer, 38, passed away on Sept. 6, 2014, in a fatal car crash in Saline County.
He was born Oct. 24, 1975, in Paducah, Ky., to Dennis L. Shaffer and Cheryl R. (Barber) Shaffer.
Todd married his high school sweetheart of four years, Gina Lea (Vaughn) Shaffer, on July 27, 1996, at the young ages of 19 and 20.
Together they beat all of life's odds, ups and downs, through sickness and health. They faced each one standing side by side.
They added Jamison Bret Shaffer to their family on April 3, 2001, and Bryan William Shaffer on Aug. 31, 2007.
Anyone who knew Todd knew that he was no stranger to work. From his first job mowing yards as a young teenager, he worked his way up to working for the state of Illinois at IYC in Harrisburg for 13 years prior to his death.
One of Todd's greatest traits was his never ending compassion for his family. They never needed or wanted for anything. His spare time was spent with his two boys, fishing, boating, hunting, four-wheeling, coaching their ball teams, and attending every baseball and basketball game the boys ever had.
Todd's greatest accomplishment, which remains unmatched by any other was his ability to be a great father to his two sons.
He is survived by his wife, Gina Lea (Vaughn) Shaffer; two sons, Jamison Bret, 13, and Bryan William, 7; one sister, Tina (Dave) Williams, all of Rosiclare; three nieces; one nephew; one great-niece on the way; and lifelong friend (brother) Spencer (Jennifer) Atkinson of Rosiclare.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis L. Shaffer May 8, 2013, and mother, Cheryl R. Barber) Shaffer Aug. 6, 2014.
Todd is and will remain loved and missed by many.
