Eldorado appoints Tim McGrath as new city councilman
Tim McGrath, who is known locally for his career as a teacher and coach at Eldorado Elementary, Eldorado Middle School and Eldorado High School was sworn in as an appointed city councilman to replace the late Jim Morris who passed away in early August.
McGrath said that Mayor Rocky James had asked him to serve and that Bill Bradley of the city sewer department also encouraged him to assume the office. He will be the city finance and water commissioner and will have to run in the upcoming election.
He has been retired for two years.
Reports of commissioners of the various city departments turned up no news.
Two roadblocks were approved. One was for the American Legion Kids Christmas on Oct. 18 and the other was for Tim Powell on Oct. 25.
Tom Hosman, who started with the water department when it was operated privately in 1974 was recognized for his service to the City of Eldorado. His retirement from the city water department began officially on Oct. 10.
"It was always a great place work and often very interesting," said Hosman after the meeting. "Lot of job security, people always need water."
Mayor James reminded everyone of the county Christmas Tree Lighting and said that Harrisburg Mayor Dale Fowler had invited the officials and residents of Eldorado to attend the ceremony at the Saline County Historical Museum 6 p.m. Dec. 19.
