Prep Volleyball: Harrisburg struggles at Marion Invitational

The Harrisburg High School volleyball team wrapped up a tough weekend at the Marion Invitational, finishing 1-4.

Harrisburg's lone win came in a three set victory over Du Quoin, where the Indians won the first match 27-25, before the Bulldogs came back to win 25-16 and 15-8.

The four losses came to Murphysboro, Marion, Herrin and NCOE.

Freshmen middle Bryleigh Buchanan finished with eight blocks for the day and 12 kills. Freshman middle Matty Hawkins finished with six kills and 14 blocks for the day. Seniors Whitney Younger and Audree Morecraft finished with five kills each and two aces.

"It was a long day and by the end of it the girls were physically drained," HHS head coach Heather Cox said. "We had some solid volleys and some great play, but couldn't overcome some little mistakes that have been plaguing us all season."
