Freshmen Football: Bulldogs roll to win over Murphysboro
The Harrisburg High School freshmen football team earned a 32-12 win over Murphysboro late last week.
The Bulldogs led 24-6 at halftime and never looked back en route to the win.
Jordan Bartok scored from two yards out in the first quarter, while Bartok added the two-point conversion as the Bulldogs built an 8-0 lead.
Jaylen Godsey then scampered 69 yards for a touchdown, while Isaiah Saulsberry hooked up with Blake Drue for the two-point conversion as Harrisburg led 16-0 with 7:53 to play in the second quarter.
After Murphysboro put six points on the board, the Bulldogs responded with a Drue run from eight yards out, while Godsey provided the two-point conversion.
Murphysboro scored six more in the third quarter to cut the deficit in half, 24-12, but once again, Harrisburg responded with a 41-yard score from Bartok, while Bartok punched in the two-point conversion.
Bartok finished with 102 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns, while Godsey carried for 85 yards on two carries and Drue had seven carries for 70 yards.
