GOLF: Ferguson, Carlson, Ogilvie advance to Sectional

Du Quoin senior Marisa Ferguson and Pinckneyville juniors Ellie Carlson and Trista Ogilvie are all advancing on to the IHSA Class A Girls Golf Sectional after qualifying at Wednesday's Regional at Franklin County Country Club in West Frankfort.

Ferguson shot an 85 for her 18-hole round, second best amongst individuals not on an advancing team. Her teammate, Carlie Daffron, shot 103 and was six strokes shy of a Sectional berth.

Carlson's 92 led the Lady Panthers, who finished tenth as a team with a total of 438. Ogilvie shot 95, Erica Crews finished at 121, Taylor Wildermuth 130.

Eldorado took first place in the team standings at 325, with Regional medalist Taylor Goodley's 67 leading the way. Taylor's sister, Ashton, posted the second-best round of anyone at Frankfort, carding a 74. No other golfer came within three strokes of the Goodley sisters.

Massac County (338) and Herrin (355) were the other two teams to advance to Monday's Sectional, which will also be held at Franklin County Country Club.
