Prep Soccer: Bulldogs drop road contest at Sikeston
A pair of second half goals by Sikeston earned them a 3-1 victory over Harrisburg in prep soccer action Tuesday.
The Bulldogs tied the game in the first half when Anfernee Houston threaded the ball to Carver Gregg as he hit the back of the net for a game-tying goal.
Sikeston then scored 10 minutes into the second half to make it 2-1 and struck again with 2:04 to play to end the scoring.
Ryan Cowsert tended to the goal for the entire game and had five saves on the night.
"We came out strong and with conviction," Harrisburg assistant coach Mike Butler said of his Bulldog squad who possessed the ball 80 percent of the time in the first half. "We beat them to the ball and played our short game with good crisp passes. Sikeston controlled the second half with the same type of play.
"Sikeston is a very big and physical team with a lot of depth," Butler added. "We struggled with bringing the ball down the sides and crossing across the middle. They shut our attack down up the middle and it was a determining factor in the game."
