Robert J. Faust Sr.
Robert J. Faust Sr., age 82, of New Albany, Ind. and formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014 at 12:40 a.m. in Green Valley Care Center, New Albany, Ind.
Robert was born on March 11, 1932 in Rice, Ill., a son to John E. and Mary E. (Millikin) Faust. On June 15, 1957, he married Dorothy M. Kellerman at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, Ind., a former member of St. Mary Magdalen, Todds Mill, Ill., was employed as a Geologist by the U.S. Geological Survey, a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the American Legion Post #28 of New Albany, Ind., an avid golfer on a senior league and most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Faust of New Albany, Ind.; three sons, Robert J. (Mary Jo) Faust of Hendersonville, Tenn., William J. Faust of Louisville, Ky. and James A. (Angela) Faust of New Albany, Ind.; two daughters, Jeanne M. Faust (David Hamilton) of Atlanta, Ga. and Patti Rainbolt of New Albany, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Sarah E. (Brian) Hambidge, Robert "Bobby" J. Faust III, Zoe Claire Faust Hamilton, Nick Hamilton, Brady Faust, Willie Rainbolt and Maria Faust and one sister, Virginia Chapman of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William, Paul, James and Lawrence Faust; two sisters, Cecilia Matecki, and Mildred "Mickey" Fallert and three brothers-in-law, Marion Matecki, Richard Fallert and Paul Chapman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Christian Iwuagwu officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Cemetery, Todds Mill, Ill. Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial Donations can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, New Albany, Ind. or St. Bruno Catholic Church or School, Pinckneyville, Ill. and will be accepted at the funeral home.
