Vendors list doubles in size for Fall Fest; chili cook-off a favorite
The second annual Du Quoin Fall Festival is this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Keyes City Park with many activities going on in the park all day!
Organizer Dane Mason says the Fall Festival stemmed from the Summer Concerts last year and is growing.
"We have actually doubled the vendors this year and the weather is calling for it to be a beautiful day!" Mason said.
The list at right is the vendors that will be selling their items.
"The Farmer's Market will also be going on and we have encouraged the farmers market vendors to stay and enjoy the day, as well," he said.
The bandstand will have an open mic session starting at 11 a.m. with LimeLight Karaoke and DJ, an Elvis impersonator from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the group Whistle Pigs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"Our second annual chili cook off will be held at noon. Participants are to cook their winning chili at home and bring it to be judged," he said.
The winner will take home a $100 cash prize and bragging rights for the year!
"Along with craft vendors, food and music we will have a kids corner that will be free! The Kids Corner (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) will have two bounce houses, face painting by the Library of Arts, pumpkin painting, pumpkin toss, pumpkin bowling and more!!" he said.
Balloon artist Professor Play will also be in the park from 10 a.m.-12 noon making free balloon art for kids.
"We can not have this event without these generous sponsors," Mason said. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

"I am hoping that people come out and support this event and our town. I have heard a lot of people commenting that we need more activities in and around Main Street and this is a perfect opportunity for that. I want to encourage the Main Street stores to open their doors and have a sidewalk sale to encourage traffic on Main. If we do not support our local events, vendors and stores, who will?" he said.
