Fourth year for Dickey family Haunted Barn
Strange, isn't it? When the sun goes down things take on new and more frightening dimensions.
In broad daylight gorillas and horror movie stars do not seem that daunting.
But in the dark? Whole 'nother story!
Two of the stars of the Dickey family's Haunted Barn posed for a publicity shot Wednesday and they seemed like just your friendly neighborhood ghouls.
After dark, though, things are different. These seemingly harmless actors put fear in the hearts of young and old.
Of course dramatic lighting, creepy sound effects, smoke and mirrors and a horror fan's imagination are part of the equation.
All these things will come into play 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October and on November 1 at the Haunted Barn, 625 Devillez Road, Harrisburg.
It is off U.S. Route 45, north of Harrisburg at Wasson Road. Look for signs, there will be plenty.
"It is just a load of fun doing this every year, this is year number four," said Brittney Dickey. "The whole family gets involved in one way or another and all proceeds go to one of three charitable destinations: Fowler-Bonan Foundation, St. Jude's Hospital and local charities."
In 2012, it's second year, the barn raised $8,096 for St. Jude Children's Hospital, United Way, local food pantries and the Fowler-Bonan Foundation.
