New public parking lot in Harrisburg
Harrisburg mayor Dale Fowler presided over the opening of a new public parking lot on Friday morning.
The new lot is located at the corner of Poplar and Cherry streets, directly across from the Steam Cafe. Over the last few months the lot has been expanded with the addition of 12 more parking spaces, bringing the total lot capacity to 39 spaces. The lot was landscaped and will be a useful addition to parking needs in the downtown area.
In the opening ceremony - a ribbon cutting overseen by the Saline County Chamber of Commerce - Fowler spoke of the continued growth and expansion Harrisburg is enjoying and how even small additions like the new parking lot serve to enhance the cities growth.
"We have seen some 12 new businesses open in Harrisburg in the last year," Fowler said. "We plan to continue to grow our community and business base."
