Prep Soccer: Gregg leads Bulldogs to another win

The Harrisburg High School soccer team knocked off Olney East Richland 2-1 Monday as the Bulldogs improved to 11-2 on the season.

Carver Gregg had the only two goals for the Bulldogs, one in the first half to knot the game at 1 and then the game winner in the second half as the Harrisburg defense pitched the shutout.

Harrisburg head coach Mike Stewart said that at this stage of the season, he wants to see more consistency from his Bulldogs.

"We will take the win, but it was not our best win."

Ryan Cowsert made 10 saves in goal for Harrisburg, picking up the victory in 79 minutes of net action. Britten Riden made one save, playing the last minute.

With two minutes left in the game, Cowsert had to leave with an injury and Stewart commended Riden for coming in under much pressure and stepping up to the task.

"With just one minute of play, he chalked up a tremendous save to allow us to get a victory," Stewart said. "Britten did an outstanding job of stepping up to the task.

"We were flat today," Stewart added. "We weren't going to the ball and Olney played a more aggressive game and beat us to the ball several times. Fortunately, our defense was able to reciprocate and shut them down."
