VOLLEYBALL: PCHS wins tight match with Du Quoin
Du Quoin and Pinckneyville played two tight sets of varsity volleyball on Thursday evening at PCHS, and the Lady Panthers were able to pull ahead late in both of them to win the match 25-22, 25-19 for their second conference victory.
Both sets were tied late, with the two teams drawing even at 17-17 in the first before the Lady Panthers rallied to push ahead by four on their way to a three-point win. The second set was also played very close with another 17-17 tie, but Pinckneyville turned it on to score eight of the last ten points.
Sophie Keith and Morgan Simpson led Pinckneyville with four kills apiece, Daisy Dudek finished with three. Mady Epplin had the most digs with fourteen, Kaitlyn Sweeney led assists with fifteen. Dudek had five aces, Ashley Wild added three.
For the Lady Indians, Grace Haney had a team-high five kills and Afton Robinson and Amanda Atteberry each had three. Alaina Caldwell led digs with two, and assists with three. Kenzie Jackson led DHS in service aces with four.
The Lady Indians are at home with Anna-Jonesboro next Thursday and the Lady Panthers host Herrin on Monday.
