Towing vessel sinks, two rescued
<span>A towing vessel sank near Lone Eagle Coal Dock in Rockwood early this morning.</span>
<span>The United States Coast Guard in St. Louis said that the towboat "Maverick" sank about 12:30 a.m. near mile marker 105, which is close to the Lone Eagle Coal Dock at Rockwood.</span>
<span>The Maverick had about 3,500 gallons of diesel fuel and an undetermined amount of lube oil on board when it sank and there are no reports of fuel in the water.</span>
<span>The two crewmembers on board were rescued by the towboat "Hortense B. Ingram." They were treated and released from a local hospital with no injuries.</span>
<span>Salvage and cleanup efforts are to be handled by the Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit in Paducah, Ken.</span>
<span>The cause for the sinking is still under investigation. The Coast Guard has marked off a safety zone between mile marker 104 and mile marker 106 until the location of the sunken vessel is determined.</span>
