OBITUARY: Shirley A. Woods

Shirley A. Woods, 77 of Equality, passed away at her home 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014.

The daughter of James and Mary (McDaniel) Parker, she was born in Equality on Dec. 11, 1936. She was married to J.C. Woods on May 4, 1957, who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2003. Shirley worked for 22 years at the Harrisburg Manufacturing, which she retired from in 1999.

She was the mother of seven children; five daughters, Pamela and Larry McCuan of Equality, Cheryl and Amedee Juarez of Eldorado, Linda and Chris Karns of Equality, Anita Womack of Equality, Annette and George Reeder of Harrisburg; two sons, Gregory Woods of Cobden, Jeffrey and DoReatha Woods of Morganfield, Ky.; 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Helen Certain, Rosie Wargel, Pauline Wenzel; two brothers, Bert and Logan "Bill" Parker.

Visitation for Shirley will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, with the Rev. Keith Ital officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Elmwood Cemetery near Equality.
