Prep Soccer: Bulldogs blast way past Patriots
The Harrisburg High School boys' soccer team improved to 6-2 on the season with a 5-1 win over Massac County Tuesday.
Carver Gregg and Cody Morris got the scoring going early for the Bulldogs, each netting a goal in the first half.
In the second half, Massac County cut the deficit to 2-1, but Harrisburg finished off the game with a pair of goals from Anfernee Houston and one from Emil Loe.
Ryan Cowsert got the win in goal for the Bulldogs, saving six shots on a day when Harrisburg head coach Mike Stewart said you could tell heat was a factor in the game.
"We have found the formation that works for this bulldog squad, now it's time to polish the play," Stewart said. "James Curtis is playing the center mid position very well. The defensive subs have stepped up and improved their game, playing a more cohesive game and its really starting to show as we were able to shut down Massac County's junior midfielder Hayes Lawson.
"This team is not afraid to shoot the ball and that threat can come from many players which is a luxury Harrisburg has not had in a while."
