Prep Golf: Bulldogs Take Two
The Harrisburg boys and girls golf team both celebrated victories Thursday at Shawnee Hills Country Club.
On the boys' side, Harrisburg knocked off Marion 158-165, while the girls' team earned a 200-202 victory over West Frankfort.
Marion's Brendan Lewis took medalist honors for the Wildcats, while Harrisburg's Ben Fowler was the low man with a 38 for the Bulldogs.
Ryan Williams finished with a 39 for Harrisburg, while Garrett Jenkins fired a 40. Patrick Bittle carded a 41, while Bryce Beal (42) and Brady Hodson (60) rounded out the scoring.
"Our boys did well today," Harrisburg head coach Michael Tison said. "They didn't play their best, but they played good enough to get the victory. Bryce plays in our fifth spot and continues to improve and post solid scores."
Alexa Burtis took medalist honors for Harrisburg as the junior finished with a 41 in two-stroke win over West Frankfort Thursday.
"Alexa continues her solid, consistent play," Tison added. "We tied west Frankfort two days ago and inched out a win today. "We have just four golfers and they know every stroke counts and each one did their job today."
Skylar Street added a 46 for the Bulldogs, while Gabriella Tison shot a 48. Nicole Taylor rounded out the Bulldog scoring with a 65.
