Prep Volleyball: Wildcats knock off Harrisbrug

The Harrisburg High School volleyball team dropped a three-set match against Carrier Mills late last week, winning the first set 28-26 and then dropping the last two, 16-25 and 14-25.

Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said the varsity had too many little mistakes that cost them the game, struggling all over the court and lacking communication.

"Without good passes our setters struggle to get the ball where our hitters can attack effectively," Cox said. "With that being said, our hitters had a tough time. Mentally, we didn't make some smart decisions and it cost us."

Cox noted not taking anything away from the host, Carrier Mills-Stonefort club, but her Bulldogs beat themselves.

"Mentally we weren't able to overcome the change of momentum in the game when we made a mistake. Our energy was really lacking as well.

The one shining moment for Harrisburg was its serving as the Bulldogs only had two serving errors.

The Harrisburg junior varsity team won in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-13.

Jessica Schwartz served for 25 points between the games with zero missed serves and two aces.

Hard working defense and tough net play by middles Jadynn Haney (sophomore) and Raegan Thompson (freshman) made a big impact on the game.
