Freshmen Football: Harrisburg rolls to win over Du Quoin

The Harrisburg High School freshmen football team improved to 2-0 with a 40-12 win over Du Quoin late last week.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard early, putting up 22 first quarter points as Jaylen Godsey returned a kickoff 80-yards for and then provided the two-point conversion as Harrisburg took the 8-6 lead.

Jordan Bartok than provided a two-yard run, while Kent Cletcher provided the two-point conversion as Harrisburg took a 16-6 lead.

The last score of the first quarter came compliments of Blake Drue, who scored from 32-yards out.

In the fourth quarter, Smith and Bartok each scored from five and four yards out respectively as Harrisburg held on for the win.

The Bulldogs had 254 yards of total offense, rushing for 244 on 31 attempts.

Godsey had 65 yards on five attempts on the ground, while Drue rushed for 61 yards on four carries. Bartok finished with 10 carries for 48 yards, while Smith had five carries for 35 yards.

Noah Mayer (4-26), Isaiah Saulsberry (2-5) and Cletcher (1-4) rounded out the rushing for Harrisburg.
