Perry County, ProAct Inc. offer discount prescription card for county residents

Perry County residents can soon capitalize on a no-cost, no-hassle prescription discount card offered through a partnership between the county and ProAct Inc., a pharmacy benefit management company based in central New York.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, ProAct Inc. will mail discount cards to households in Perry County. Residents should expect to receive their discount in the mail the week of Sept. 15. Discount cards also will be available at participating pharmacies.

"This is a great benefit to Perry County taxpayers, specifically those who are uninsured or underinsured," explained Bobby Kelly, Chairman of the Perry County Board. "There are no enrollment forms to fill out, no membership fees and no cost to residents or taxpayers, just one card for immediate use."

Any Perry County resident, regardless of age, can participate in the discount program. One discount card may be used for all family members. The ProAct card is accepted at most pharmacies in the county and can be used at over 65,000 pharmacies nationwide. Participants will save an average of 10 to 20 percent on brand name prescriptions and 20 to 50 percent on generic drugs.

Using the ProAct prescription discount card couldn't be easier. Simply present it at a participating pharmacy any time you fill a prescription. Residents with little to no prescription coverage will experience immediate savings while those individuals who have insurance will receive the discount on prescriptions not covered by their plan.

"Out partnership with ProAct and the release of the prescription discount card represents a meaningful stop in helping residents save money on prescription drugs, specifically those lacking adequate insurance," said Kelly. "We in Perry County government view this as a tremendous opportunity."
