Prep Soccer: Harrisburg trumps Aces for 8-0 win at home
The Harrisburg High School boys' soccer team scored early and often in a 8-0 rout of Mt. Carmel Thursday night at the Michael Herrin Soccer Field.
Carver Gregg scored four goals, three of which came in the first half as Harrisburg built a 5-0 lead.
Getting in on the action in the first half as well was Cody Morris, who had two goals.
Brandon McConnell, James Curtis and Gregg all had second half goals as Harrisburg improved to 4-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs peppered the Aces with 17 shots on goal as Morris and Gregg each had five. Eli Questelle finished with three, while Curtis, McConnell, Emil Loe and Britten Riden all had one.
Ryan Cowsert made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs and head coach Mike Stewart who said it was good to open up at home with a win.
"I thought the first half was a little sloppy, but we cleaned it up and did much better in the second half. It was good to see some of our bench guys get some playing time today. We were also able to experiment by moving players around and try some new things out tonight," Stewart added. "This is the fine tuning we needed.
"I think both our offensive play and defensive play is starting to get. These young men are really coming together as a unit."
