Phyllis Evelyn Neff

Phyllis Evelyn Neff, 88, of Tamaroa, fought the good fight and finished her race to go be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 10:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Phyllis was a homemaker who loved her family. She loved cooking and helping others. Her favorite hobby was writing anything from poetry to stories of her family.

She was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin.

She was born May 13, 1926 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of William and Grace (Keigley) Loucks.

Phyllis married Chester H. Neff on Nov. 2, 1943 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1971.

She is survived by five children- Chester Harold (Doris) Neff of Du Quoin, Phyllis Dianne Hurley of Tamaroa, Ronald Wayne (Fran) Neff of High Ridge, Mo., Belinda Carol (Mike) Marlow of Tamaroa and Randy (Jennifer) Neff of West Frankfort, Ill.

Her large family was her pride and joy. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and another on the way. She is also survived by four brothers- Lloyd Loucks of Christopher, Tom Loucks of Schereville, Ind., Gary Loucks and Gordon Loucks, both of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and four brothers.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but we take comfort in knowing she is dancing in the presence of the Lord.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Chrisco officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
