OBITUARY: Betty Jo Alexander

Betty Jo Alexander, nee McKinney, 87, living in Waterloo and formerly of Harrisburg, born Oct. 31, 1926, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 21, 2014.

Betty lived most of her life in Harrisburg and had been living in Waterloo since 2008. She was a member of North Williford Baptist Church in Harrisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. and Hazel, nee Sherretz, McKinney; brother Carl Ed Mckinney; and husband, John C. Alexander.

Surviving are her son, John E. (Kathy) Alexander of McLeansboro; daughter, Susan (Leo) Hefner of Waterloo; grandchildren, John W. (Enuice) Alexander of Orange Texas, Missy (Scott) Silke of Booneville, Ind., Brett (Kami) Hefner of New Lenox, Brooke (Kyle) Koerber of Waterloo, Farrah (Steve) Friedrich of Lake Elmo, Minn.; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Madaline (Jerry) Brasher; and nephews, Steve (Jacque) McKinney and Terry (Carla) McKinney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Bruce Cullers will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Williford Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
