One instructional aide, four teachers express intent to retire in Dist. 300

A longtime instructional aide and four teachers have told the Du Quoin Dist. 300 central office they intend to retire in the next three years.

The Du Quoin board of education will meet Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the media center at the K-8 school.

Terry Higgerson has submitted her letter of intent to retire as an elementary school instructional aide at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

Four members of the certified teaching staff have submitted letters of intent to retire at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

They include kindergarten teachers Kathy Beard and Debbie Vancil, DHS guidance counselor Carolyn Sorrows and physical education and athletic staff member John Gross.

Under employment of personnel, the board needs to hire a high school volleyball assistant coach. a high school instructional aide and a K-8 building cafeteria cook.

In other business the board will approve a resolution to pay certain expenses for the operations and maintenance fund, hear a presentation of a 2014-2015 school budget, hear a presentation of the Eight Keys to Excellence and hear an update on bus route consolidation and changes.
